Substitute Teacher Fired After Allegedly Assaulting 8-Year-Old Student in Seine-et-Marne School

A substitute teacher at the Pierre-et-Marie-Curie school in Chelles is accused of assaulting her 8-year-old student. She was immediately dismissed. The parents and the victim are still in shock.
Shocked to have been beaten up, Bilal was unable to find the words to tell his parents what really happened. "He couldn’t tell me anything," explains Imen, the little boy’s mother. It was Bilal’s classmates who told her what happened. The teacher would have pulled Bilal’s ear, slapped him, and pulled him by the sweater. "She had grabbed Bilal by the back and put him in a corner." And that’s when the blows rained down, the mother tells the newspaper Le Parisien.
The reaction of the other children in the schoolyard was up to the violent behavior of the teacher. "They jumped on the teacher and told her to stop. They took Bilal to the bathroom and treated him," explains Imen. "They intervened," confirms another student.
The academic inspection confirmed the information and condemns this aggression: "She mistreated a child. It is unacceptable. Two teachers witnessed the scene." The academic inspection adds that Bilal’s parents will be received. A psychological unit, deployed by the inspection, will receive children and adults who wish to, in order to evacuate the shock received.
While the parents wonder how this teacher, without any pedagogy, ended up as a substitute in the school, they were reassured by the inspection, which claims to be serious in the recruitment of substitute teachers. "We check the level of studies and we ask for a criminal record extract. Things are checked. This kind of incident is extremely rare."
Bilal was at the leisure center on Wednesday, the day after the assault. His mother says she does not want to keep him at home, for fear that he will brood over what happened. Imen does not intend to let her son’s assault go unpunished. On Wednesday evening, she filed a complaint before going to Bilal’s school on Thursday morning to discuss the matter. For now, she thinks it’s too early for her son to return to the school where he was mistreated, even if the aggressor is no longer there. "He is a very good student," she says. "I’m worried about the rest of his schooling."
