Stranded Passengers Recount Chaos After Montpellier Airport Accident

A week after the plane accident that paralyzed Montpellier airport, several travelers, including Moroccans, have recounted their misadventure.
Canceled flights, their passengers left to fend for themselves: the accident of the Boeing 737, carrying freight, which missed its landing on September 24 at Montpellier airport, caused a lot of inconvenience to travelers. Several of them confided in Midi Libre.
"My daughter and her friend were supposed to land on Saturday evening from Marrakech and they had no choice but to buy a ticket on the spot to Paris with Royal Air Maroc. They took a taxi to the Gare de Lyon, a meal, a hotel room, the TGV the next day. The additional expenses are not covered by the company and without a response from the airport. They had to pay an additional parking fee for exceeding the time," testified a family father.
The Transavia company guaranteed during the week the refund of the Marrakech-Montpellier return tickets to the two travelers and the difference in the price of the tickets with Royal Air Maroc "with supporting documents and within six weeks," he continued.
In total, 34 flights did not land in Montpellier, the newspaper recalls. When questioned, the company reassured that arrangements have been made to support the travelers affected by the accident. "Each passenger received an email. We offered another flight, a full refund or a voucher to be used later," it said. Similarly, the costs related to repatriation by other means (plane, train) will also be covered. "Our customers are reimbursed for the price difference, upon presentation of supporting documents," the management stressed.
