Stranded French-Moroccan Returns After 4 Months in Morocco, Criticizes Government Response

Blocked for 4 months in Morocco, Mohamed Gord, a resident of Moulins, has finally joined his family. Arrived in France since July 17, the septuagenarian blames the French government for having abandoned him.
Like his compatriots stranded in Morocco due to the coronavirus pandemic and the closure of airspaces, the Moulinois has set foot on French soil, reports La Montagne. According to Mohamed Gord, 70, his return flight scheduled for March 22 was canceled on March 15.
Throughout this long period, it was impossible for him to contact the French consulate in Fez. In response, he received an email reminding him that "the consulate was closed until further notice". "No one cared about us and I blame the state for not doing everything to repatriate us," he lamented.
The Franco-Moroccan considers himself lucky, unlike other French tourists. On site, he was able to count on the support of his family in Morocco. The septuagenarian stayed with his brother throughout this period. "I’m not complaining. But I still lost four months without seeing my children and my family in Moulins. It’s unacceptable, we pay taxes, insurance, and when we need help, we find ourselves alone," he regrets.
