Stellantis Taps Moroccan Workforce to Boost Grande Panda Production

The multinational Italian-French-American automotive group, under Dutch law, Stellantis, is relying on Moroccan labor for the production of its "Grande Panda" model, which has very high demand.

Stellantis is preparing to welcome 200 Moroccan workers at the beginning of next October. They will join nearly 100 workers who have already arrived at the company’s plant in the city of Kragujevac at the end of August. These new recruits will have to support the production lines of the new Fiat Grande Panda car after the expected stoppage of production in six factories located in European countries starting next month, according to Italian media reports. The automotive group is therefore counting on the recruitment of these Moroccan executives to reach the full production capacity of its plant in Serbia, which is currently producing about 350 cars per day of the Fiat Grande Panda model.

The arrival of Moroccan workers coincides with the company’s preparation for the launch of the night shift system starting the first week of October, to push the facility to maximum production speed.

In parallel, Stellantis has dispatched about 150 Italian specialists from its factories in this country, notably from "Pomigliano d’Arco", "Melfi" and "Atessa", to its plant in the city of "Kragujevac" in the Šumadija region in central Serbia, to supervise the new incoming workers. This will ensure a strong start to the production of this car model.

For some time now, the European giant of the automotive industry has been having difficulty finding a sufficient number of workers in Serbia due to its financial offers - around 600 euros per month - which do not attract the local workforce. Many Serbs prefer to look for other job opportunities. Faced with this situation, the group has found the solution: recruit in Morocco to overcome this crisis and ensure the continuity of production at a high pace. Another advantage: Morocco offers it cheap labor.
