Spain’s Unai Simón Confirms World Cup Penalty Shootout Exchange with Morocco’s Bounou

The Spanish goalkeeper Unai Simón reacted this Saturday to the recent revelations of his Moroccan counterpart Yassine Bounou about their exchanges before the penalty shootout in the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar.
"He told the truth... I trust Bono because we know each other in La Liga, we’ve met a few times outside of football... I told him: ’hey, listen, I know you, I don’t have to tell you, but I’m going to leave it here. Please, don’t touch it. But I also think it’s not new for us, goalkeepers, to study the attackers’," the Atlético goalkeeper told Marca.
And to specify: "I’m sure Bono didn’t look at the paper. But... of course. In the end, even if he had the paper or not, I think Bono knew I had studied the Moroccan attackers. What’s happening is that people want to accuse me today of having lost the World Cup because of that... I have a clear conscience. When I meet Bono, I’ll talk to him (laughs)."
