Spain Seeks Balance in Relations with Morocco and Algeria, Says Foreign Minister

Spain does not want its good relations with Morocco to be an obstacle to its relations with Algeria, said José Manuel Albares, the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Thursday.
"We want to have with Algeria the same relations that we have with all our neighbors, of mutual respect and non-interference. We do not want the very solid relationship that we are building with Morocco, and which benefits Spain and especially Andalusia so much, to be an obstacle to the one we have with Algeria," Albares said, stressing that the "friendship between the Algerian people and the Spanish people" must prevail.
The Spanish Foreign Minister does not think that France’s opposition to the MidCat gas pipeline project could interfere in Spain’s relations with Algeria, assuring that this project will allow Spain to contribute to finding a solution to the energy crisis caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
