Spain Assures Algeria: No Algerian Gas Will Be Diverted to Morocco

The third vice-president and Minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, has reassured her Algerian counterpart, Mohamed Arka, that "under no circumstances" will Algerian gas be transported to Morocco.
In an email addressed to the Algerian Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arka, Teresa Ribera confirmed that Spain will transport gas to Morocco via the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline, reassuring him that "under no circumstances" will the gas purchased by Morocco come from Algeria.

The Spanish authorities have sought to reassure Algeria, which has already threatened to break the gas supply contract with Spain if a single drop is diverted to Morocco as part of this agreement. In response, the Spanish government stated that Spain’s role will be limited to transforming the liquefied natural gas acquired by Morocco on the international market and transporting it to the kingdom via the GME, after having transformed it in its regasification plants.
