Spain Appoints Top Migration Official as Interior Advisor to Morocco Embassy

The Commissioner General for Foreigners, Juan Enrique Taborda, has just been appointed Interior Advisor at the Spanish Embassy in Rabat.
Taborda had held the position of Commissioner General for Foreigners for nearly four years. He has just been promoted to Interior Advisor at the Spanish Embassy in Rabat, leaving the position vacant. The Directorate General of Police has launched an "express" procedure to fill this strategic position, reports El Independiente.
Migration cooperation is very important for the two countries, which is why the Spanish Minister of the Interior, Grande-Marlaska, sent Taborda to Rabat, as he is an expert on migration issues. Juan Enrique Taborda, who will be 63 years old on August 22, joined the Spanish police in 1982. His appointment as Interior Advisor in Rabat comes a few months after the resumption of relations between Spain and Morocco.
According to statistics from the Ministry of the Interior, 16,718 people entered Spain illegally by the end of July, an increase of 3.3% compared to the same period in 2021 (16,180).
