Spain Admits Protocol Oversight: Upside-Down Flag at Moroccan Iftar Sparks Controversy

Spain admits that the protocol service did not carry out the usual checks of the room where the iftar organized in honor of Pedro Sanchez during his visit to Rabat in April was held, to find that the Spanish flag was upside down.
The Spanish flag upside down during the iftar organized in honor of Pedro Sanchez who was visiting Rabat, was noticed by Internet users in the official photos of the event published on social media by the Moroccan press agency. The image sparked the outrage of Spanish Internet users who considered this act by Morocco as a "mockery".

In a parliamentary response to Vox to which El Debate had access, the Spanish government specified that the iftar took place in a "private space" of the Moroccan royal palace and that the Spanish protocol was not authorized to carry out the usual checks, "the layout of the room having been ensured by the Moroccan royal service".
The government stressed in its response that the Moroccan authorities apologized at the end of the dinner and assured that it was a "protocol error".
