Souss-Massa Region Allocates 73 Million Dirhams to Combat COVID-19 Crisis

73 million dirhams. This is the budget that the Souss-Massa region has mobilized to deal with the health crisis of covid-19. The funds were used to implement social and economic measures.
According to Les Inspirations Eco, this amount was distributed as follows: 40.39 million dirhams in the form of a contribution to the special covid-19 fund and 33.25 million dirhams dedicated to the socio-economic and health effects. In this last part, 13 million dirhams were spent by the Souss-Massa Regional Council for the acquisition of medical equipment for the benefit of hospitals and health centers in the region.
The same source adds that an envelope of 10 million dirhams was planned to ensure the restoration of the medical staff requisitioned in the hospitals for the management of covid-19 cases. An identical sum was also released to support vulnerable groups, with food and other basic necessities. The remaining amount (250,000 dirhams) was used to purchase cleaning products and disinfection equipment for the civil protection.
For the record, a forecast of 20.2 million dirhams was announced by the Souss-Massa Regional Council to mitigate the adverse effects of covid-19 at the social and economic levels. As of June 15, 2020, more than 755 million dirhams, including more than 697 million dirhams in the form of resources transferred by the State and more than 58 million dirhams in the form of the region’s own resources, would already have been mobilized, indicates the same source.
