SOS Racisme Organizes New Paris Rally Against Police Brutality and Racism

Through the voice of its president Dominique Sopo, SOS Racisme calls for a new rally against police brutality this Tuesday, June 9, in Paris.

The SOS Racisme association wants to continue to denounce police brutality and, above all, all forms of racism; this despite the many demonstrations and rallies held in memory of Adama Traoré.

Dominique Sopo calls for the organization of a rally this Tuesday, at 6 p.m. on the Place de la République. According to him, Emmanuel Macron and Édouard Philippe must speak out on the issue of police brutality. Until now, the President of the Republic has not yet officially spoken on the subject.

However, according to Le Parisien, the Head of State would have discussed, this weekend with elected officials, associations, or even civil society actors about the anti-racist demonstrations that occurred this week in France, and around the world.

Through this rally, SOS Racisme intends to pay tribute to George Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American, who died two weeks ago following the intervention of a white police officer in Minneapolis, United States.

During this rally, a silence of 8 minutes and 46 seconds, the time of George Floyd’s ordeal, will be observed.
