"Serial (Bad) Weddings 3" Faces Controversy Amid Racism Claims and Legal Troubles

A few days before the release of the third installment of the "Serial (Bad) Weddings" film, the film’s promotion remains disrupted by Ary Abittan’s legal troubles for rape with violence. And as if that weren’t enough, this trilogy has to face accusations of racism.
This Wednesday, April 6th marks the release of the 3rd part of the "Serial (Bad) Weddings" film. Christian Clavier and his companions hope to have the same success as the first two installments of the film with 17 million admissions at the box office. But the critics no longer give the film the same innocence as when it was released in 2014. Some characters would convey racist clichés.
In an interview with the JDD, Christian Clavier wanted to clarify things. "Thank goodness, the whole of France was not offended to laugh! The public has endorsed the film everywhere! It has exceeded 10 million admissions in France and 20 million in Europe," defended the main actor. "My character is unfiltered and accumulates all the prejudices of French society against this type of union," he added.
Director "Philippe de Chauveron lived this in his own family. He was therefore the most able to remove the racist clichés from his film. We knew we could be attacked, but his point of view has not changed: he takes an amused and tolerant look," he stressed.
For the actor, "the spectators must leave the theaters happy and without asking questions". He considers that there is nothing racist in the film. As for the legal troubles of one of the influential members of the team, he did not want to comment on it.
