Saint Levant Morocco Concert December 2024 Flag Controversy

Saint Levant’s return to Morocco is already dividing internet users. The Palestinian singer, whose real name is Marwan Abdelhamid, has announced a concert on December 3 at the Mohammed V sports complex in Casablanca.

The Moroccan date is part of an international tour organized around his new album. It is to include 41 concerts in Asia, Europe and North America, before ending in December.

A few hours after the poster was published, many fans expressed their enthusiasm. Others, conversely, called for a boycott of the concert by recalling an incident that occurred during his participation in the Gnaoua Festival in 2024.

The 2024 controversy resurfaces

At the time, the way Saint Levant had handled the Moroccan flag on stage had been judged disrespectful by part of the audience. The images had sparked a wave of criticism on social networks.

The artist subsequently apologized on his Instagram account, assuring that he had never intended to offend Morocco. He had mentioned a misunderstanding and reaffirmed his respect for the country and Moroccans.

This explanation apparently did not convince all internet users. The announcement of his return to Casablanca was enough to revive the images of the incident and calls not to attend the show.

Saint Levant nevertheless maintains a significant fan base in Morocco. Many believe that his apologies have closed the matter and see this concert as an opportunity to discover the tracks from his new album on stage.
