Morocco's Young Lions Roar: Royal Reception Honors U20 World Cup Champions

A solemn reception at the royal palace at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, as well as a popular tribute, are being organized in honor of the Atlas Cubs, after their coronation at the U20 World Cup held in Chile.

King Mohammed VI has given instructions for a solemn reception at the royal palace, and a popular tribute to be organized this Wednesday to honor the Moroccan national under-20 football team. The sovereign will receive the members of the national team at the royal palace before they greet the crowd gathered on their route, starting at 6:30 pm, from Bab Essoufara to Mohammed-V Avenue, according to the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery (MRPC).

This royal reception constitutes "a tribute to the young champions who have carried high the colors of Morocco on the world stage and offered the Kingdom an unprecedented historic victory," the same source points out. It also comes to consecrate "the constant attention that King Mohammed VI pays to sport, Moroccan youth and the development of disciplines that make the country shine."

With a brace (12th, 29th), Yassir Zabiri (12th, 29th) offered Morocco its first world star at the U20 World Cup Chile. A second title for the African continent in this competition after that of Ghana in 2009. This historic coronation was celebrated by the Moroccans.
