Report: Anti-Muslim Incidents in France Drop 17% in 2018

Anti-Muslim acts are declining in France, according to the latest report published by the Observatory of Islamophobia, attached to the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM).
Thus, during the year 2018, 100 anti-Muslim acts occurred in France, compared to 121 the previous year. In detail, according to the president of the observatory Abdallah Zekri, there were 43 acts and 57 threats.
However, this decline must be put into perspective since many people do not file complaints against their aggressors, considering that judicial procedures are either very long or they consider that cases of threat are less serious.
Moreover, the absence of attacks in France could also explain this decline in anti-Muslim acts, and the attack on the Strasbourg Christmas market is considered by many French people as a conspiracy in the midst of the "yellow vests" crisis.
It is also a question, according to the observatory, of better protection of Muslim places of worship, synonymous with a decline in attacks targeting mosques, adds the observatory, which is concerned about the resurgence of hatred on social networks without being able to quantify it.
