Renowned Moroccan Historian Abderrahmane El Moudden Dies at 70

Historian Abderrahmane El Moudden died Sunday morning in Doha, following a long illness.
He was one of the most brilliant historians, known as a specialist in the history of relations between Morocco and Turkey. Native of the Taza region, Abderrahmane El Moudden obtained "his bachelor’s degree in History from the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences in Rabat, before obtaining a postgraduate diploma there in 1984," reports H24infos.
He then left Morocco for the United States, where he earned a Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1991.
He taught for several years at Lycée Moulay Youssef, the Faculty of Letters in Rabat and Al Akhawayne University. An expert at the Royal Institute for Historical Research in Morocco, he was "secretary general of the Moroccan Association for Historical Research".
The deceased is the author of several books, including "Precolonial Moroccan Campaigns: The Tribes of Inaouen and the Makhzen, 16th-19th Centuries" or "Sharifs and Padishahs, Moroccan-Ottoman Relations from the 16th through the 18th Century," the same source indicates.
