Reality TV Star Moundir Zoughari Wins Marrakech Poker Open, Secures €60,000 Prize

After 10 years of hard work, Moundir Zoughari won his first major poker tournament in Marrakech. A consecration for the former "Koh-Lanta" candidate.

Moundir Zoughari has carved his name into the history of the Marrakech Poker Open. He dominated the three-star field of the High Roller of the Marrakech Poker Open in the night from Thursday to Friday. The WIP of Winamax pocketed the sum of 60,000 euros. "It was so important for me to win this title, I had been chasing it for ten years. [...] Ten years that I’ve been working like crazy to have a major title and I win this tournament which is one of the most competitive on the circuit," Moundir told Le Figaro. In a post on his Instagram account, he dedicated his victory to the popular and amateur poker "that he embodies", as well as to his wife Inès and his three children.

Previously, Moundir was progressing in the competitions, but was rarely winning. In 2012, he had won one of the side events for a gain of 10,000 € during the final of the Winamax Poker Tour. In 2018, he had finished in 472nd place, out of 7,874 participants, with $29,625 (€25,185) in winnings at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, United States. His first big success dates back to April 2020. He had shone in an online poker tournament of the Winamax Series against 1650 players.

For the past 10 years, Moundir has been with Wina. "I learned the rules in five minutes by watching professionals play on TV. I was fascinated by their attitude, their attire. There was something very theatrical and psychological about it," he had said in 2019 in the long profile that the French newspaper had devoted to him.
