Rayan Touzghar, former Moroccan U20, shares his dream of wearing the Moroccan jersey again

Rayan Touzghar has good memories of his youth selections with Morocco. "I only have extraordinary memories. When you’re with the youth teams and you arrive at the Mohammed VI complex, one of the most beautiful complexes in the world, you’re in a dream," he said in an interview with Foot Mercato. He did not hesitate to salute the evolution of Moroccan football: "You could already see how Morocco has developed, how they worked with their players. Today the results they have, it’s no surprise. You see, it’s the fruit of the work they’ve done for years. When I was there, I was able to play with super players."

The former Moroccan U20 international also commented on the victory of the Atlas Lions at the U20 World Cup. "Frankly, I was really happy for them, because I saw how the people inside, have worked to develop Moroccan football. When you see the results they have now, it’s beautiful." He also knows one of the architects of this historic run. His name is Gessime Yassine. The young winger of USL Dunkerque has shone for the Moroccan U20 team. "I know Gessime Yassine well, because we’re from the same city, he’s a guy from Avignon," Rayan said.

He continues: "I’ve known him since we were little. We played together in Avignon. We were the two players who stood out the most in the team. At his age, you could feel he had something extra. When I was little, sometimes my dad would go pick him up at his house and he would take us to the stadium with my brothers, and we would train with my dad. He came with us to train all together. We were in the same middle school, we did everything together. Now, the two of us are in Ligue 2, it’s beautiful, it’s a great story."

Today, the 22-year-old player’s wish is to join the den of the Atlas Lions. "Today, of course, I would like to go back there, but now I can no longer play with the youth teams. So it’s something else. I don’t want to skip steps, today I’m only in Ligue 2. I will have to evolve further in my career. But one day, to arrive with the A team, I think it’s one of my greatest dreams."
