Rat Incident Prompts Closure of French Radio Station During Moroccan Official’s Visit

Last October, a rat fell on the head of a Moroccan deputy, invited to the studios of the radio "Bordo FM", in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles, near Bordeaux. The station has just been temporarily closed for reasons of hygiene and diplomatic incident.
The incident occurred last October, while the radio was hosting Moroccan elected officials. The rat "fell on the head of a Moroccan deputy, representing Moroccans abroad, and a ministerial delegate of the youth of the Moroccan government," the radio said in a statement cited by Actu Bordeaux.
A few weeks after this incident, the town hall of Saint-Médard-en-Jalles decided to temporarily close the Bordo FM studios for "reasons of public safety, hygiene and diplomatic incident." "This premises will soon be demolished to make way for the construction of social housing. It should therefore not be subject to renovations," explained Hèlene Costa, assistant to the mayor’s office.
The work on the new building should start by January 2025. The town hall will allocate other offices to Bordo FM to allow it to continue its activities. The station confirmed the information, stressing that its programs will be "assured" in other temporary premises.
