Rapper’s Instagram Drug Ad Allegedly Doubles Sales for French Dealers

It was on February 2nd that rapper Mister You posted a video on Instagram where he advertises for drug dealers, specifying a sales location near Villejuif, in the Val-de-Marne region of France. According to some sources, since then, sales have almost doubled.
The Califweed drug trafficking network would have greatly benefited from Mister You’s video. Orders would have doubled, according to the French media Le Parisien. Thus, we can read on its website: "The products are ordered on a call center via Snapchat, WhatsApp or Signal. Since rapper Mister You promoted it, the number of orders has doubled..."
Furthermore, quoting a buyer, still in the same sense, Le Parisien writes: "Aged 34, he said he bought the drugs for his birthday party after seeing Mister You’s video".
The Moroccan-born rapper also, during his custody, admitted the facts he is accused of. But he nevertheless specified that he was drunk when he posted this video. As for his lawyer, Thomas Maier, he claims: "the means used by the prosecution in this case are disproportionate to judge an artist who has only made a bad publicity stunt".
Let us recall that Mister You was arrested last Thursday and held in custody for 48 hours for possession of narcotics and incitement to drug trafficking and use. He has since been released but is still under judicial supervision and will have to appear before a judge in the coming weeks.
According to Article L 3421-4 of the Public Health Code, Mister You faces five years in prison and a 75,000 euro fine for the charges related to incitement and drug trafficking. As for the possession and acquisition of narcotics, they are punishable by ten years’ imprisonment and 7,500,000 euros in fines, according to Article 222-37 of the Penal Code.
