Rapper French Montana Faces Backlash for Controversial R. Kelly Comments
He probably should have kept quiet. The American rapper of Moroccan origin French Montana has just incurred the wrath of Internet users on social networks after his support for another R&B singer, R. Kelly, who is facing several complaints for rape of minors.
Interviewed by the celebrity website TMZ about the documentary that was devoted to this case, the Moroccan responded: "Let him appreciate his heritage, what happened belongs to the past," provoking the outrage of Internet users and pushing French Montana to apologize.
"My heart is with the victims. I would never have thought that the people I admired in my childhood, who sang and danced and gave me hope of becoming a superstar, would become drug addicts, child abusers and rapists. I hope our culture will create better leaders. We need them," he rectified.
A few days ago, it was the singer Lady Gaga’s turn to apologize for having collaborated in the past with the interpreter of "I Believe I Can Fly".
