Rapper Booba Fined €5,000 for Online Insults Against Former Charlie Hebdo Journalist

The verdict is in. The 14th chamber of the Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) correctional court has convicted the famous rapper Booba for insulting the journalist Zineb El Rhazaoui in 2019.
Booba was fined 5,000 euros that he will have to pay to Zineb El Rhazoui whom he had insulted in 2019. On Instagram, he had called for making life hell for the former Charlie Hebdo journalist. "Let’s make this stinking piece of shit’s life hell," he had said. These insulting remarks followed a controversial call from Zineb. "The police need to shoot live ammunition," the Moroccan journalist had said about an episode of urban violence in Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines), provoking strong reactions from Internet users.

The two parties were absent during the hearing in March and at the deliberation rendered this Tuesday, April 4, 2023, we are informed. "The court has taken the measure of this case by bringing the fine and damages back to more just proportions," reacted the rapper’s lawyer, Yann Le Bras. The prosecutor had requested a fine of 10,000 euros against the performer of Scarface.
