Ramadan to Begin April 13 in France Amid Muslim Council Divisions

In France, the holy month of Ramadan will begin on April 13th next. This announcement was made by the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) and the coordination made up of the four dissident Muslim federations of the council.
April 13, 2021 will mark the beginning of the fast. Contrary to previous years, this announcement was not made in a consensual and concerted manner. The reason is that the CFCM chaired by Mohammed Moussaoui is going through an unprecedented crisis. Four of the nine CFCM federations, namely the Great Mosque of Paris, the Rally of Muslims of France (RMF), Muslims of France (MF) and the French Federation of Islamic Associations of Africa, the Comoros and the West Indies (FFAIACA) have left the executive office of the Muslim organization to form a coordination. This coordination announced the date of the Ramadan day instead of the CFCM, last Monday.
This situation could lead to the postponement of the traditional meeting at the Great Mosque of Paris. The month of fasting will thus begin in a context marked by division and the continuous and contradictory announcements of the government (resumption, confinement, tightened confinement, etc.).
