Ramadan 2023 in France: Dates Set for First Post-Pandemic Observance

In France, the start and end dates of the month of Ramadan are now known. This will be the first real month of fasting after the health crisis due to Covid-19.
Traditionally, the month of Ramadan is determined by the appearance of the crescent moon on the 29th evening of Sha’ban. But it sometimes happens that weather conditions prevent the appearance of the crescent moon, recalls Saphirnews.
Thus for this year, the calculations made and the data recorded in advance announce a month of fasting spread over 29 days in France. The beginning of the month of Ramadan is set for Thursday, March 23, 2023 and will end on Thursday, April 20, 2023. As for the Eid al-Fitr celebration, it is scheduled for Friday, April 21, 2023, pending the official announcement by the Muslim authorities in France.
However, according to the media, divergences are expected on these dates since the advocates of the visual observation of the crescent moon have announced that the month of fasting should end on Friday, April 21, 2023 after 30 days of fasting.
