Racist Threats Spray-Painted on Mosque Door in Southern France, Police Investigate

The door of the prayer room of the Al Salam mosque in Beaucaire, in the Gard, was covered, in the night from Saturday to Sunday, with racist and hateful graffiti. An investigation has been opened to identify and arrest the author.
"You’re all going to blow up the mosques, you’re all going to explode." These are the inscriptions tagged in red letters on the door of the mosque. Laure Cordelet, president of the Rassemblement citoyen de Beaucaire association, is the one who reported the information on her Twitter account, reports France Bleu.
The Gard prefect Didier Lauga condemned these "unacceptable acts" and also called "not to respond to these shameful provocations." "An investigation has immediately been opened to identify and apprehend the author(s) so that they can be brought before the judicial authorities," he said in a statement.
The city of Beaucaire, led by Julien Sanchez, a member of the Rassemblement national (RN), also condemned on Facebook "with the greatest firmness (this) tag targeting the Muslim religion." "Whether they concern Catholics, Jews, Muslims but also any belief or political opinion, the threat and insult have no place in our city and in a democracy," the town hall said in a statement. Its wish is that "the author of these inscriptions be identified and found quickly".
