Racist Comments Against Miss France 2020 Spark Legal Action

The Representative Council of Black Associations (CRAN) announced that it has filed a complaint with the Paris Prosecutor’s Office against the authors of racist remarks posted on social media after the election of Guadeloupean Clémence Botino as Miss France 2020.
The president of CRAN is upset by these racist behaviors, despite the awareness-raising and sanctions. He does not intend to tolerate the racist remarks of which the Guadeloupean Clémence Botino has been the victim since her election in mid-December, as the most beautiful woman of France in 2020.
Furthermore, CRAN also denounces the many racist tweets published on the evening of the election of Miss Ile-de-France, Evelyne de Larichaudy, from the island of Reunion.
According to the president of this association, Ghyslain Vedeux, these remarks must be sanctioned, as they are totally unacceptable. Furthermore, he deplored the "ineffectiveness" of the Pharos platform, set up by the government to fight online hatred.
Ghyslain Vedeux also regrets the lack of reaction from the authorities, the government, and even from the Secretary of State Marlène Schiappa, who is usually the first to take the lead.
