Rabat Bans Public Sheep Grilling for Eid Al-Adha Amid COVID-19 Concerns

The grilling of the heads and feet of the sacrificed sheep during Eid Al-Adha is now prohibited in public spaces and on the edges of roads in Rabat.
This activity often observed during this holiday period attracts a crowd, mostly young people. In the Moroccan capital, it will no longer be possible, due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a decision by the governor of Rabat.
According to the council, this decision is justified by the informal nature of this activity and the total absence of rules, hygiene measures and those relating to food safety that characterize this practice. However, establishments such as neighborhood ovens are authorized to carry out this activity, while strictly respecting hygiene measures.
For the time being, this ban is limited to the capital, but it could be extended to other cities.
