Protesters Rally in Brussels Against Police Brutality and Migrant Mistreatment

Between 200 and 250 people marched on Monday, October 21, on the Albertine Square in the Belgian capital, Brussels, to protest against police abuses and call for the protection of migrants and refugees.
Several activists from climate and social organizations chanted anti-violence slogans against the Belgian police, denouncing the excessive use of pepper spray and describing the police interventions as unacceptable.
The event, which was coordinated on the Facebook page "United against police violence", aims to put an end to the violence committed by the police against migrants and refugees within the city’s neighborhoods.
A handful of citizens, formed into a delegation, expressed the protesters’ grievances to the Brussels municipal officials, reports rtbf.be.
On the banners, one could read for example: "I was beaten by the police for no reason". "Stop police violence because it is a reality. Don’t wait for a tragedy to happen", or "We need security, not violence".
