Port of Sète Struggles as Morocco-France Maritime Links Remain Suspended

The suspension of maritime links with Morocco due to coronavirus has had a negative impact on the port of Sète, resulting in the blocking of the return of many French motorhome travelers and the delay in the reception operation for Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs) called Marhaba 2020. The time has come to reflect on the restart of the port.
The National Ports Agency had announced on March 12 the suspension of passenger shipping lines serving the port of Sète, France, from the port of Nador. This suspension has considerably reduced activity. Morocco had meanwhile authorized some special repatriation operations for French people blocked in Morocco. But still, this did not give any rebound.
Many French motorhome travelers remain blocked in the kingdom. The other activity that benefits the port of Sète is the reception operation for Moroccans residing abroad (MREs). This operation has so far been delayed. It is possible that it will start in July.
In the meantime, the management of the port of Sète is reflecting on its revitalization. The ambition is to remain competitive by maintaining investments.
