Poll: 60% of French View Migrants as Threat, Majority Favor Strong Leadership

An Ipsos poll published on Friday, September 13, reveals that 60% of the French see migrants as a threat. 65% of them believe that welcoming them will not improve the country’s situation and, according to 45%, the arrival of migrants "deprives the French of social services". At the same time, 54% of respondents believe that the French should be given priority in job allocation.
Migrants, presented as a workforce capable of contributing to the development of France, would only be an excuse, according to a majority of French people.
For 77% of the French, "the arrival of a strong leader, capable of breaking the rules" would be a "solution to improve the country’s situation". A proportion much higher than that observed worldwide (49%), according to the institute, which specifies that this places the Hexagon "at the forefront of the most outspoken countries on the issue.
The study also indicates that 73% of the French perceive the economy as "rigged" in favor of the rich and the elite. They are also 75% to have the impression "that the traditional parties and politicians do not care about people like them, or do not understand them".
