Police Shooting in Belgium: Family Man Killed After Car Chase in Seneffe

Imed’s sister-in-law, a 42-year-old family man, shot by police after a car chase on Thursday late morning in Seneffe, witnessed the murder and gives her testimony.
"It’s incredible. In fact, I crossed him just before it happened. I didn’t know it was him, because he no longer had a car and I couldn’t recognize his license plate or his car. I don’t even know where this one came from. But he must have recognized me since I was in my vehicle. I had been struck by this blue car, because it was being chased by three vans and a police car. I saw him turn into the street where the incident took place. I had noticed that he had put on his turn signal! I then heard three or four gunshots," Maureen, still in shock, tells Sud Info.
When the emergency services arrived, they were unable to revive Imed. The forty-year-old succumbed to his injuries. As for his passenger, she is said to have been unharmed. After the tragedy, police officers from several police zones descended on the scene, which was cordoned off by an impressive security perimeter. "With the ambulances, I saw about forty police officers rush past my house at full speed," confided a resident of Seneffe.
A few days before the tragedy, Imed had been arrested by the police for non-compliance with the conditions related to a case that Maureen says she does not know the ins and outs of. "That day, he was in my garage. They took him away and released him two hours later," the sister-in-law confides.
According to her, her brother-in-law was trying to get out of a bad situation. "He drank a lot, but he wanted to get out of it. We had even gone with him on Wednesday to the Tivoli hospital so he could spend a stay in psychiatry, but that wasn’t possible. We don’t know why, but at 12:30 am on Thursday, the police showed up at his ex-partner’s house. He wasn’t there. She told them they could search her house. It seems the police then said they hoped it would go well, because they really wanted to catch him," she continues.
Devastated by his death, Maureen and relatives are demanding justice for Imed. "We are going to get a lawyer and fight in his honor. He did some stupid things like many others but he was a good, kind, helpful person. He was not a big criminal. He was also the father of two children aged 4 and 12," the sister-in-law assures.
