Police Seize $1.9 Million Worth of Moroccan Cannabis in Paris Suburb Raid

The judicial police of Seine-Saint-Denis seized 480 kg of cannabis resin in a warehouse in Courbevoie on November 26. Five alleged traffickers were arrested and then indicted "for money laundering, criminal conspiracy, transport, possession, acquisition and importation of drugs".

It took close monitoring of vehicle movements around the warehouse for the police officers to succeed in seizing this quantity of drugs. The drugs were in a van, which itself contained eleven Moroccan suitcases, these typical packaging specially made in Morocco for the transport of drugs, reports Le Parisien. With an estimated market value of more than 1.9 million euros, the goods were to be sold in Seine-Saint-Denis and in particular the major drug dealing points in the city of Saint-Denis.

During the operation, they arrested five men in their forties. Among them, three wholesalers who hold high positions in the network and are known to the police. "These are wholesale traffickers belonging to a historical supply channel in Seine-Saint-Denis," says a source close to the case. One of them, aged 41, manages several car repair garages located in Saint-Denis and in the Hauts-de-Seine. Vehicles from his garages would have transported the drugs.

The five alleged traffickers were subsequently indicted "for money laundering, criminal conspiracy, transport, possession, acquisition and importation of drugs," the Bobigny prosecutor’s office said. Four of them will be held in pre-trial detention and one will be under judicial supervision. During the various searches, the investigators seized very little money. A meager harvest. The reason is quite simple: "the traffickers are in the habit of reinvesting their profits in the informal banking system," says the same source.
