Police Inspector Alleges Racism in Controversial Anderlecht Teen Death Case

A police inspector from the Midi Police Zone has made revelations about one of the three police officers charged with involuntary manslaughter in the Adil case, a 19-year-old man who died after being hit by a police car in Anderlecht.
One of the three police officers implicated in the Adil case is accused of racism by several of his colleagues. This emerges from the testimony of a police inspector from the Midi Police Zone in which the three accused work. She is heard by the investigating judge in the context of another case. "The chief inspector made racist remarks about the young Adil. It has also come back to me from his men that he boasted of having taken one off the street in relation to the death of the young Adil. He would also have boasted of having already killed," she said. According to her, the authors of these remarks are the "three quarters of the men" of the Midi police zone, but also a "large part of the police officers of the police station".
The policewoman also provided a damning administrative report for the police officer in question. His colleagues have also addressed this report to the operational director of the Midi Police Zone, as well as to the chief of staff Jurgen De Landsheer. "The chief inspector is degrading and demotivating towards new colleagues starting their careers. The latter feel crushed, ousted and of no use since their arrival in our team, due to the pressure exerted by the police officer: unjustified threats of a performance note, threat of transfer to another team and/or service," reports RTBF.
The police officer’s colleagues also accuse him of racism and sexism towards the members of his team and the population. "Several racist or insulting remarks have been made against police inspectors of foreign origin. We quote, and please excuse us, terms like bougn*, bouns, you fuck goats in your countries of origin, I don’t understand why you don’t eat pork. Facts "serious enough to be subject to legal proceedings," reports Le Soir. Jurgen De Landsheer, the zone chief, contacted by RTBF, assures that following the receipt of this report, "the person concerned would have been summoned and placed in another service in February 2023 and has not caused any more problems since then."
On Tuesday, these new elements prompted the Brussels chamber council to postpone the pleadings in the case relating to Adil’s death until September.
