Paris Police Disarm 7 Officers Amid Radicalization Concerns Following HQ Attack

Nearly a month after the attack carried out at the Paris Police Prefecture, 7 police officers have been "disarmed following their reporting" on suspicion of radicalization.
The investigation opened the day after the attack on the Paris Prefecture has made it possible to hear a number of people linked to this deadly attack.
Pending the hearing of the Director of Intelligence, the hierarchical superior of the author of the attack, the Prefect of Police, for his part, was heard on Wednesday at the National Assembly. From his remarks, it is noted that he worked on the reporting for radicalization, at the level of the Prefecture.
Of the 33 reports he has heard since October 3 on suspicions of radicalization, he indicates having disarmed 7 police officers. He also recalled having requested 3 other suspensions, of which only 1 has been executed.
In this same dynamic, the Prefect of Police did not fail to point out that he had sent a note to all his services on October 7 so that they systematically report all signs of radicalization.
According to him, these reports make it possible to question whether or not to leave the civil servant concerned armed. "I assume it perfectly, I encouraged the reports so that the doubts are lifted," he declared.
In total, about fifty people will be heard in this case by the Commission in charge of the investigation. Among them will be the Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner, and the Secretary of State, Laurent Nunez.
