Paris Migrant Camp Eviction Sparks Political Clash Over Immigration Policy

Rachida Dati, mayor of the 7th arrondissement, reacted to the violent evacuation of migrants that occurred on Monday night into Tuesday in Paris. She accuses her of having "allowed these migrant camps to be set up."
"I am shocked by the images, whatever your point of view, whether towards the law enforcement or these migrants," she said on BFMTV. For the former Keeper of the Seals, this muscular eviction "reflects the failure of the migration policy in France". She deplores the way the Paris City Hall is handling the migration issue.
The former minister claims that the city hall of the capital "does not comply with the national mechanisms to control migration flows" and does not intend either "to enter the device for evaluating the age of migrants". As a result, "Paris has become the suction pump for all irregular migrants," the elected official lashed out, recalling that the Paris City Hall has a responsibility because it has allowed these migrant camps to be set up.
"We are two steps away from an explosion in our country, we have urban violence everywhere on the territory," she warned.
