Paris Court Overturns Ban on Pro-Palestinian Protest, Hundreds Rally

While Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin requested the banning of a demonstration in support of Palestine currently at war with Israel, the Paris court authorized it at the last minute. "Allah Akbar," the protesters chanted in Place de la République.
Gérald Darmanin suffers a setback. An unfavorable outcome was given to his request to ban a pro-Palestinian demonstration. The Paris court authorized this gathering at the last minute, which took place on Thursday in Place de la République, where hundreds of people chanted "Allah Akbar", reports Europe1. The Minister of the Interior simply complied with the court’s decision. This is the first time the court has overruled him. Out of 65 bans on demonstrations, only one was rejected.
On BFM, the occupant of Place Beauvau mentioned the reasons behind the bans on demonstrations. "Look at Berlin, 70 police officers injured. Look at Washington, look at London," he said. And to continue: "Now I am a democrat and a republican, I take my responsibilities as a minister. One power stops another power. People take the court, they give me reason, they don’t give me reason. They gave me reason 64 times and didn’t give me reason the 65th time. People can demonstrate so, I sincerely hope that this demonstration will be for Palestine and will not be for hatred for the Jews."
The war between the Palestinian Hamas movement and Israel continues to rage. According to local authorities, the death toll from Israeli airstrikes stands at at least 4,137, including 1,500 children. 30 French nationals have been killed in the attacks. "France deplores the tragic death of new French nationals, which brings the toll of French victims to 30 in these attacks," the Quai d’Orsay said in a statement on Friday.
