Paris Attacks Mastermind Accepts Life Sentence, No Appeal Filed

Sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for his involvement in the November 13, 2015 attacks in Paris, Salah Abdeslam did not appeal his conviction. He had 10 days to do so, a deadline that expired at midnight on Monday.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Paris public prosecutor, Rémy Heitz, indicated that the sole surviving member of an Islamic State cell that killed 130 people in Paris in 2015 did not appeal his life sentence.
The 19 other people convicted for their role before and after the attacks also refused to appeal, the prosecutor added, specifying that the decision of the special court handling the cases "has now acquired permanent status and there will be no appeal trial."
