Overloaded Vans: Moroccan Drivers Fined for 7.5-Ton Excess on French Highway

The gendarmes of the EDSR of the Drôme intercepted on Thursday, April 7, two Moroccan vans on the A7 motorway, heading towards the Paris region, to say the least overloaded. The vehicles each weighed 7.5 tons more than expected.
The check took place near Valence (Drôme) on Thursday as the two Moroccan drivers were heading towards the Paris region, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré. The two vans, whose authorized gross vehicle weight is 10 tons, both weighed rather 17.5 tons. An overload of 7.5 tons.
The two drivers had to pay a fine of 1,890 euros, or 90 euros per 500 kg tranche. They were also forced to unload their vehicles to reach the maximum threshold of 10 tons. After that, they were allowed to continue their journey towards Paris.
