Oubaali Defends WBC Bantamweight Title with 7th Round TKO in Kazakhstan

By defeating his Filipino opponent, Arthur Villanueva, by stoppage in the 7th round, the Franco-Moroccan boxer, Nordine Oubaali, retained his WBC world bantamweight title on Saturday, July 6, 2019, in Kazakhstan.
The boxer regained his world title by knocking down the Filipino Arthur Villanueva, who was of inferior caliber but more experienced, in the 6th round. Indeed, 7 months ago, he had won the bantamweight title in Las Vegas, winning his fight against American Rau’shee Warren unanimously on points (117-111, 116-112, 115-113).
Oubaali’s next challenge remains a unification fight in the category against one of the two other bantamweight champions, Japanese Naoya Inoue, IBF and WBA (regular) champion, and Filipino Nonito Donaire, WBA "super" champion.
