Nursing Assistant Files Complaint Over Alleged Racist Slurs at B&M Store in Beauvais

Targeted by racist insults, a 34-year-old nursing assistant has filed a complaint against the manager of a store in Beauvais. An investigation is underway.
"Go home you dirty camel, go be a camel and from now on it’s forbidden for camels here," the manager of the B&M store located in the Oise reportedly said to Aïda last October, according to the statements collected by Courrier Picard.
It all started from a simple disagreement over a price. "It was 11.99 euros on the shelf and 24.99 euros at the checkout. I refused to pay, I asked to see the store manager," explained the nursing assistant. "I waited, then considering that he was not coming, I decided to block the checkout." Shortly after, he would have had another checkout opened that Aïda would have threatened to block if the manager did not come to meet her.
"He then arrived five minutes later." According to Aïda, the man would have said he was the "manager" of the store and do "what he wants in his store." As he returned to his business, the manager would have hurled racist insults at her in front of about thirty people. After the incident, Aïda filed a complaint for racist insults against the manager. Outraged, B&M France condemns the remarks made by the manager. "We are extremely shocked by the remarks made and we firmly condemn them," said its CEO Anthony Giron, to Le Parisien. "It is contrary to our values, our brand being open to diversity, both in terms of our employees and our customers."
B&M France sent "a letter and a formal notice to the store manager," he said, noting that the manager did not deny having made these remarks. As the Beauvais store is a franchise of the group, the only possible sanction after this affair would be "a termination of the contract," detailed Anthony Giron. However, he says he is waiting for the results of the investigation and the criminal response. "If there is a conviction, perhaps the tune will be different," said the CEO of M&B, noting that a customer’s complaint against a manager is a first.
