NASA Releases Stunning Satellite Image of Morocco’s Ancient Anti-Atlas Mountains

NASA has recently published a new colorful image of the Anti-Atlas mountains in Morocco. This image has generated many comments from internet users.
These mountains were formed as a result of the collision of the African and Eurasian tectonic plates about 80 million years ago, according to NASA.
"The layers of limestone, sandstone, clay and gypsum that formed the ocean floor have been folded and crumpled to create the Anti-Atlas mountains," the space agency said in a statement accompanying the image.
According to NASA, in this image of southwest Morocco, "visible, near-infrared and shortwave infrared bands are combined to spectacularly highlight the different rock types and illustrate the complex folding."
