Napoli’s Kevin Malcuit Reaffirms Dream to Play for French National Team, Declines Morocco

It’s France rather than Morocco. The Franco-Moroccan player Kevin Malcuit has, once again, shown his desire to play for the French national team, putting an end to the ambitions of Moroccan football officials to see him play with the Atlas Lions.
"The Blues is a dream and a goal. This is also what has dictated my latest career choice. I am at Napoli because I know full well that to hope to catch the wagon of the Blues, it goes through a big club and big matches. Obviously the coach makes his choices. As for me, I have to stay on my current momentum," he thus declared in an interview with France Football.
The player was recruited last year for 4 years by the Italian club for 12 million euros, which shows that the team believes in him and his future within the club. He had previously played for Saint-Etienne, Niort or even Monaco.
In an interview given in 2016, Malcuit had already explained that he had made his choice for France and said he had spoken with national coach Hervé Renard, who, he said, understood his choice to play for the French national team and to focus on the championship.
