FC Nantes Midfielder Imran Louza Faces Racist Abuse and Death Threats After Match Loss

Moroccan player Imran Louza, a member of FC Nantes, is the victim of the racism so decried in France. He was the target of racist insults and death threats on social media following the defeat of FC Nantes against Nice (1-2) last Sunday.
The racist insults and threats towards the Moroccan have shocked the club as well as the players’ union (UNFP), who publicly supported him. In a statement, FC Nantes said that these remarks have no place "neither on a football field, nor outside". The union, for its part, declared to be shocked "by the threats and racist insults against Imran Louza".
For his part, the player expressed his state of mind when reading the messages, some more racist than others. "My loved ones and I are touched and extremely saddened. We cannot accept this and legal action will be taken," he wrote.
This incident, which the player is having difficulty digesting, could weigh heavily in his decision to play for the French national team.
