Muslim Voters Overwhelmingly Support Macron in French Presidential Election

French Muslims massively voted for presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron in the second round of the presidential election, which sees him as the winner with 58.54% of the vote.
The figure is clear-cut: 85% of Muslim voters cast their vote for LREM candidate Emmanuel Macron in the second round of the presidential election on Sunday, April 24, while the remaining 15% voted for the National Rally (RN) candidate Marine Le Pen (7% in the first round). This is revealed by a survey on the vote of confessional electorates by Ifop for La Croix and Le Pèlerin, conducted among a representative sample of 4,827 people of the French population aged 18 and over, by self-administered online questionnaire on April 24. In the first round, they had massively voted for the candidate of France Insoumise (FI) Jean-Luc Mélenchon (69%).
Catholics participated strongly in the second round and exceeded the total registered voters in France (79%, compared to 71.8%). This proportion is 58% among Muslims, 70% among Protestants and 66% among "non-religious" people. Like Muslims, Catholics placed Emmanuel Macron in the lead in the second round with 55% (over 58% among all French people) and voted 45% for Marine Le Pen.
