Muslim Teen Assaulted by Family in France Over Interfaith Relationship

In Besançon, a 17-year-old teenager has suffered the wrath of her family who shaved her, beat her and humiliated her because she is in a romantic relationship with a 20-year-old Christian young man.
The events took place last Monday in an apartment in the Clairs-Soleils district of Besançon. The girl returned home to her family accompanied by her boyfriend and his parents after having spent four days on the run at their place, reports L’Est Républicain. This is the beginning of a nightmare. Taken to a room, she was beaten by her mother, father, uncle and aunt: punches, kicks, to the face and body. Then the girl’s father handed a trimmer to his brother and asked him to shave her.
Meanwhile, her boyfriend alerted the police before returning with reinforcements. On their arrival, the officers found the teenager hidden in the room. She was rushed to the hospital. The medical examinations revealed a broken rib and numerous bruises, particularly around the ears corresponding "to a traction". Given the seriousness of her case, the victim will have to observe a temporary work stoppage (ITT) of 14 days prescribed by the forensic doctor. She is now under judicial protection.
The members of her family were arrested. According to Margaret Parietti of the Besançon prosecutor’s office, the four defendants are being prosecuted for "violence against a minor, in the presence of minors and in a group". Pending their trial before the court, they have been placed under judicial supervision.
