Muslim NGO BarakaCity Donates Critical Medical Supplies to French Hospitals Amid Coronavirus Crisis

In an effort to contribute to the national effort, the humanitarian NGO BarakaCity has donated medical equipment to hospitals in the Île-de-France region, in order to fight the spread of the coronavirus. In total, more than 1,300 masks have been distributed.
More than 1,300 FFP2 protective masks, as well as protective gloves, surgical gowns, catheters, syringes, or even hydroalcoholic gels, have been distributed to hospitals in need. But Idriss Sihamedi, president-founder of the Muslim association, is saddened by a fact on his Twitter account.
"We are sending medical equipment to dozens of countries around the world; we have built a clinic in the Central African Republic, a hospital in Togo... But when we realized the seriousness of the epidemic here in France, we decided to take from our stocks. We waited to be solicited, requisitioned, but nothing came," he regrets.
However, "quite paradoxically, while we have not received any information from the city of Ivry or the region, it was the local hospitals that were in high demand. I have exchanged with doctors who have told me of an alarming health situation. They are constantly in contact with patients without any protection," confides the president of BarakaCity.
In addition, he assures that his organization will distribute a lot of equipment in Île-de-France, in Essonne, and in several hospitals in Paris.
