Muslim Leaders in France Stand with Christians After Annecy Knife Attack

The French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) expressed its closeness on Friday to the families and loved ones of the children victims of the knife attack in Annecy, the alleged perpetrator of which is a Christian.
"Savagery cannot be the work of a practitioner of a religion, whatever his religion. Those who think otherwise, having a particular religion in mind, must have the decency to question themselves," the CFCM said in a statement.
And to add: "Today, we are resolutely by the side of our Christian brothers and sisters to tell them that we have never doubted and will never doubt the values that animate the vast majority of our fellow citizens of all faiths or without faith."
The Union of Mosques of France (UMF) also condemned this attack in a statement released earlier on Friday, stressing that "violence has neither religion nor nationality... No religion teaches its practitioners savagery."
