Muslim Leaders in Belgium: Ramadan Fasting May Be Postponed for Healthcare Workers

A few days before the start of the month of Ramadan, the Executive of Muslims in Belgium (EMB) states that fasting can be postponed for certain categories of people.
Children, the elderly or vulnerable, pregnant or breastfeeding women, the sick and travelers are normally exempt from fasting.
"This year exceptionally, Muslim people who work on the front line in the fight against the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and who are facing very difficult working conditions (intense stress and fatigue, overloaded schedule, wearing of safety equipment that accentuates thirst...) can, if they encounter insurmountable difficulties, break the fast they have begun and postpone it later," the EMB said in a statement.
And to specify that: "this mainly concerns members of the staff of hospitals, nursing homes and funeral companies".
