Muslim Graves Vandalized in French Cemetery During Ramadan

New Islamophobic act in France where Muslim graves have again been desecrated in the Draguignan cemetery, in the Var department. This is all the more unfortunate as Muslims have been observing the Ramadan fast for about ten days.
In a statement, the National Observatory against Islamophobia (ONCI) condemned this odious and highly reprehensible act. Its president, Abdallah Zekri, strongly condemned the desecration of the Muslim cemetery. "We are witnessing in 2019 the desecration of Christian, Jewish, Muslim cemeteries. We can only condemn such acts. These unscrupulous individuals who do not even respect the dead deserve contempt and disgust," he said.
In order to shed light on this act of vandalism, the public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to be conducted by the Draguignan police station. While the mayor of the city has filed a complaint against unknown persons, the Muslim families concerned have been approached by the police services in order to allow them to file complaints.
To warn against any recurrence, a press release from the prosecutor recalled the penalties related to the offense of violation of a grave, which is "punishable by 4 years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros".
