Muslim Cemetery Vandalized in Mulhouse, France; Police Launch Investigation

Muslim graves were vandalized in the Mulhouse cemetery on Saturday, December 11. The police have opened an investigation. For its part, the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) strongly condemns this act of vandalism.
Degraded tombs, overturned flower pots, uprooted plants and displaced ornaments, "sincere congratulations", "Merry Christmas" cards deposited on the ground... The Muslim section of the main cemetery in Mulhouse was the victim of an act of vandalism last Saturday.
The CFCM condemned "firmly the desecration of the Muslim tombs of the Mulhouse cemetery", "almost all vandalized". It also expressed "its solidarity with the families", before calling "the public authorities to do everything in their power to find the perpetrators of this abject act."
The mayor of the city, Michèle Lutz, also condemned the facts. She even went to the site to assess the damage. "We cannot speak of desecration. We are dealing with an isolated act of mischief and stupidity. But it is serious enough. We don’t touch this kind of symbol," she reacted.
